I’m starting this GoFundMe for my best friend’s sweet son, Danny, who has endured an unimaginable medical crisis in just a few short days.

What began as flu and strep quickly turned into seizures and a transfer to Boston Children’s Hospital. After extensive testing, doctors found inflammation around his brain, and his cerebrospinal fluid culture came back positive for bacteria.

Danny has bacterial meningitis.

The good news is that Danny is off seizure medication and has remained seizure-free but the road ahead is still uncertain.

Danny is currently having difficulty walking and has lost some motor skills. The next few days will be critical in determining whether he has sustained any long term or permanent brain damage. We are remaining hopeful, praying hard, and taking this one moment at a time.

In the midst of all of this, Jen and Jad are also caring for three other children at home and will soon have little to no income as they split their time between the hospital and home. They live in Rhode Island, making the commute to Boston long and costly. Between mounting medical bills, rehabilitation and therapy, travel, meals, and everyday expenses, the financial strain is already significant—and anything truly helps.

I started this GoFundMe so this family can focus on Danny’s healing instead of the financial burden. Any donation, share, or prayer means more than words can express.
