Support Danny Hughes: EMS Hero in Need

I'm starting this account for a dear friend and former employee, Dan (Danny) Hughes. Danny has been involved in EMS, helping others, for many decades. Now my friend finds himself in need. Through no fault of his own, his health has taken a turn for the worse. He began to need a hip replacement but had lost his health insurance when the company he worked for closed and could not afford it. For several years, he has used crutches to get around. Two weeks ago, he slipped and fell, breaking his hip and pelvis. Hospitalized since his fall, he has developed a staph infection on top of everything else. Now he is in need of short-term care in a nursing facility, but none want to accept him. While he is receiving a small amount of Social Security, he keeps being rejected for Medicare and can't qualify for Medicaid. His situation is bleak and he needs our help.
