For more frequent updates, including pictures and videos of Daniel's progress, please visit the Facebook pages below. Major updates will still be posted here. Thank you all!!
Update 03/23/25: Daniel has now completed four weeks of therapy at the spinal rehab center and has four weeks left in his program. This week, he made an exciting breakthrough by moving his right leg and wiggling his right toe!! We're thrilled about this progress and are hopeful that more improvements will follow. He’s also working on transferring and using a manual wheelchair, which will help him gain more independence when he returns home. While he still experiences occasional low blood pressure, these episodes have become less severe, and thankfully, there have been no further instances of high blood pressure. We’re deeply grateful for all the prayers, thoughts, and support we’ve received during this challenging time. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to us, and we hope you’ll continue to follow his journey as he works towards rebuilding his life.
Update 02/21/25: Daniel has been safely transported to the University of Utah Spinal Rehab!! He is excited to be free of the hospital and able to truly begin his recovery. He has not regained movement in lower body and while his hands and arms are getting stronger he has the same movement ability. In his right hand he has some finger mobility while in his left he has only wrist flexion with no finger mobility. In rehab he will learn how to be as independent as possible and learn vital skills like feeding himself, transferring to a wheelchair, grabbing things, etc. We are hoping that some of his movement can return and he is able to be as successful as possible in rehab so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! He needs as much help as he can get during this difficult and challenging time. Everyday he will have to push himself to the limits through pain, hunger, fatigue, etc. so every positive and encouraging message means the world to us. Thank you all!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Dear friends, family, and supporters,
My name is Sarah, and I am sorry to inform you of a tragedy involving my 20-year-old little brother, Daniel Humble. On February 10th, Daniel suffered a devastating spinal injury in a skiing accident. While riding the slopes, Daniel was involved in a severe fall, resulting in a major spinal injury. He is currently paralyzed from the waist down with little function in his arms. This, unfortunately, has left him and our family facing a long and challenging road to recovery. His doctors have been clear: he will need extensive medical care, rehabilitation, and both emotional and physical support to regain some resemblance of independence.
Daniel is an active, vibrant person, full of life and passion about outdoor adventures. He is an Episcopal School of Acadiana graduate and currently a sophomore at LSU studying Engineering. He works at Fred’s in Baton Rouge and loves spending time with his friends and community at LSU and in Lafayette. Unfortunately, as a result of the accident, Daniel has had to suspend his schooling and job.
Throughout high school, Daniel enthusiastically participated in ESA’s baseball, basketball, and track programs. Following high school, his love for sports and the outdoors continued through skiing, weight training, and running, along with being an avid Red Lerille’s goer. Now, Daniel’s life has been turned upside down, and he needs our support more than ever. The road ahead is uncertain, and the financial strain of mounting medical bills, therapy, and the necessary home modifications will be impossible without help.
What the funds will cover:
1. Emergency Surgery and Hospitalization – Daniel underwent immediate surgery following the accident to stabilize his cervical spine. Daniel is still hospitalized in Utah and will endure mounting medical costs from his extended stay.
2. Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy – Daniel will require extensive rehabilitation to regain movement and strength. This therapy will be long-term, with sessions needed multiple times a day initially. We have hopes that he will be stable enough to move out of the hospital soon and into an inpatient rehabilitation facility, either here in Utah or closer to home in Houston.
3. Specialized Medical Equipment – He will need custom medical devices, braces, and adaptive equipment to support daily living, all of which are extremely costly.
4. Home Modifications – As part of his recovery, Daniel will need to modify his home to make it accessible for his new physical needs.
5. Ongoing Care – Daniel will need to visit specialists, doctors, and undergo regular check-ups to ensure his recovery stays on track.
Daniel has always been there for everyone he meets, whether it was giving a helping hand, offering a smile, or being the life of the party. Now it’s our turn to give back. Daniel needs you now! Your generosity will directly support Daniel's recovery, allowing him to focus on healing without the overwhelming stress of the insurmountable financial strain.
No contribution is too small – every dollar, every share, makes a difference.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate – Any amount will go directly toward covering medical, rehab, equipment, and modification costs along with any long-term or short-term care he may need. Funds are transferred directly into Daniel’s account. Your contribution will provide Daniel with the care he needs to heal and regain his strength.
2. Share – Please help us spread the word by sharing this page with your networks. The more people who hear Daniel’s story, the better chance we have to reach our goal.
3. Prayers and Positive Thoughts – If you're unable to donate or share, please keep Daniel in your thoughts and prayers. Your support means the world to him.
Daniel has always shown incredible resilience in the face of challenges, and with your help, we know he will rise above this, stronger than ever. Let’s come together as a community and help my little brother rebuild his life. Thank you for your generosity, love, and support.
With gratitude and hope,
Sarah and The Humble Family
