Update:
I wanted to give an update on Daniel’s condition, he is no longer in the ICU, he has been checked medically and there are no signs of immediate concern, there is nothing more the medical team can do as he is showing all signs of good health besides paralysis. As of today he has gained some mobility in his fingers and hands and can move them with some assistance. He has been deemed healthy enough to continue his recovery at home so he’ll be released in the next few days. God is so good and he has heard our prayers ❤️
in the next few days Daniel will start his recovery at home and he will need all the support he can get as he’s a big heavy man who can’t move on his own, if you’re willing to gift your strength and can help Andrea when he needs to be relocated at home please consider it. Daniel has been able to speak in only a matter of days and although he struggled a little bit, he’s back at cracking jokes and is ready to fight back! Now the strenuous physical therapy starts, 3/4 times a week. Thank you everyone for your support and prayers I will keep you posted on the next update.
To our friends, family, and everyone moved by Daniel’s story, thank you for being here. We are reaching out with deep gratitude for the prayers, love, and emotional support we’ve received. Every gesture of kindness has been felt, and we cannot thank you enough.
I’m Gaby, and along with my sisters, we’ve created this GoFundMe to support our brother Daniel, who is fighting for his life. On October ninth, after days of a high fever, Daniel was diagnosed with Dengue fever after a mosquito bite in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Despite seeking help multiple times, his worsening symptoms—intense fatigue, joint pain, and low platelet levels—were dismissed as typical dengue effects. But as the days went by, Daniel experienced a sudden and severe numbness in his toes and fingers that quickly spread throughout his body. The diagnosis: Guillain-Barré syndrome, a life-threatening condition triggered by Dengue, where the immune system attacks the nervous system.
Daniel has been in and out of the ICU, Now unable to move and faces a long, uncertain recovery which could take months or years. Each day is a struggle, as doctors monitor him around the clock. He is receiving immunoglobulin treatment, which has stabilized his symptoms, but he remains reliant on intensive care to prevent respiratory failure.
Daniel is the main provider for his family, and this health crisis has upended everything he’s worked so hard to achieve. He and his wife Andrea are both unable to work during this time, leaving them struggling to cover bills while focusing on Daniel’s recovery. Our family has been doing everything we can, but this situation has placed an enormous financial and emotional strain on all of us.
We are here today because, in this moment, Daniel needs us. He is the person who would give to others in a heartbeat but is now faced with needing help himself. His deepest fear is not being able to be there for his family as he recovers, and he worries about the financial burden they are shouldering instead of focusing solely on healing. We are reaching out to help ease this burden for Daniel so he can concentrate on his recovery and return to being the incredible husband, father, brother, and friend that he is.
Those who know Daniel know the incredible heart he has for his family and friends. He's respectful and caring, He's always the first to help others, A devoted father, Daniel adores his three-and-a-half-year-old son, Emilio, who has his own unique needs. Emilio is in therapy and on medication for cognitive and developmental delays due to Asperger’s syndrome. Daniel’s greatest pride is in being the best father he can be, providing Emilio with the love, support, and stability he never had growing up. He’s the dad who will do anything for his son, who treasures every moment spent with him, and who has dedicated himself to building a future where Emilio thrives.
Anything you can give will go directly to his medical expenses, Emilio’s therapy, and the household needs that have piled up in this time of crisis. Even if you are unable to donate, your prayers and sharing of this page mean so much to us and will help spread the word to those who may be able to support.
