Anyone that knows Danielle Kreeger would describe her as passionate, vivacious, brilliant, a dreamer, a pioneer, and a force of nature. She’s a mother, wife, scientist, teacher, mentor, black belt in karate, surfer, collector and just all around good person.
In September, Danielle experienced a cataclysmic tragedy leaving her physically and mentally incapacitated for an indefinite period of time. A tick bite exposed her to Lyme’s disease which progressed to Miller-Fisher syndrome, a type of Guillane-Barre syndrome which has caused damage to the peripheral axons of her neurons. She became unresponsive for several weeks before regaining consciousness but still does not have motor function or speech although she is now able to sit in a chair and communicate in other ways. She has spent weeks in the neurological ICU. It is going to be a long recovery for her and her family as she moves from ICU to intermediate care, long term rehab, and various physical therapies. There is hope, Danielle is a fighter, and there is possibility for recovery. However, even with insurance, this is very expensive care over a long period of time. There are co-pays, mobility aids, cost for her family to visit regularly, and all of the costs of living that Danielle is unable to provide at this time and more.
Danielle has touched so many of our lives over the years, she has been generous with her time and knowledge and genuinely made this world a better place along the way. If you are able to help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.
