Danielle is a 43 y/o hard working Registered Nurse and was an employee with HCA hospitals Largo and then Saint Petersburg since 2019 after she graduated with her BSN. Danielle’s last position was as a nurse manager on 3 East at HCA Saint Petersburg. She was also in the process of attaining a master’s degree in leadership through Galen College of Nursing.

On 4/3/25 her life turned upside down… Danielle suffered a massive pulmonary embolism and coded 3 times at Largo HCA hospital ER which resulted in a catastrophic anoxic brain injury. She had numerous surgeries, multiple organ failures. Doctors believed Danielle was nearly dead and would not survive. But her mom never lost faith.

After nearly 6 weeks at Largo ICU she was transferred to Kindred hospital in Saint Petersburg on dialysis, having a tracheostomy & a GJ tube. After a couple of weeks Danielle miraculously slowly began to wake up . Still on dialysis she was confined to a bed for nearly 3 months. From Kindred, Danielle was accepted at Brooks rehabilitation in Jacksonville because no other facility near home would admit her. Her mom and her two dogs followed Danielle to monitor and assist with her care and be close to her, for another 6 weeks. When it was time to go back to her home town, her mom called many facilities to be able to transition back home & Finally one facility in Largo did accept her.
After several weeks there, her Insurance stated she was good and ready to go home.

Danielle is now home with her mom and two dogs in Saint Petersburg. She is wheelchair bound and dependent on all her needs at this time. She is totally alert and oriented but suffers from neuro spasticity due to the anoxic brain injury she suffered on 4/3/25. They plan to sell their cars and obtain a wheelchair van to get to the outpatient therapy 4 times per week that Danielle now needs and will need for a long time.

Since her body laid in a bed X 3 months, basically motionless, today Danielle is learning to stand, walk, speak clearly, eat and be independent.
She needs special therapy to help with neuro spasticity, help her speak like she did before and to help her walk and shine again.

To think back, when she was at CT ICU her neurologist stated to her mother “we don’t want another Terri Schiavo on our hands”.

Well she proved him wrong!!!!

Danielle has made a tremendous progress in these long 6 months, she has fought for her life and her health. She is no longer on dialysis! SHE IS A FIGHTER !

Her colleagues and friends love her and to this day support her. Thanks to their prayers, vigils held , a blood drive held at Saint Petersburg HCA hospital and support, she has made it very far in her recovery.

Today her loving personality has come through once again.

Her 70 y/o mom is alone now with Danielle and their two dogs. They are a small family. Danielle is improving, but with the injuries she sustained, her now recovery will be a marathon not a sprint. With any marathons expenses incur and insurance only covers a very small portion of those expenses if any.

Danielle requires specialized neuro therapy and equipment. Insurance doesn’t cover most expenses.

Her mother is humbly asking for any help however small. Danielle and her mom thank you so much for your consideration and look forward to a day when she will again walk and be independent.
