Support Danielle's Journey to Preserve Baby
Donation protected
As a funeral director, Danielle spends every day providing grieving families with boundless compassion, empathy, and attention to detail. At the end of these days, Danielle has always been able to seek comfort in the four-legged love of her life, Baby. Danielle and Baby have been together for 18 years, few of which could be described as “easy”. Through it all, however, they’ve had each other.
Danielle is no stranger to grief, and Baby’s death was not unexpected, but nothing can prepare you for the loss of the most reliable and comforting presence in your life. After much deliberation, Danielle has decided to preserve Baby’s body so she can continue to find comfort and familiarity in what remains of her sweet pup.
Embalming works for those of us without fur, but it’s not ideal for friends with four legs. Taxidermy is an incredible art, but it’s extraordinarily invasive. The gentlest and most effective means of preserving Baby’s body is through freeze drying.
This will take place in an internationally renowned facility in Ohio over the course of six to eight weeks. You can find out more about the preservationists and their process by checking out their website here.
After consulting with their team, Danielle was given a price of $3,719. Any extra funds would help pay for gas and food on Danielle and Baby’s drive to Ohio. Despite being in death care ourselves, funeral directors are not given paid time off for bereavement. Any extra donations will also help Danille keep a roof over her head while she is preparing to be back at work. Time is of the essence as the facility requires 75% of the payment to be made upon Baby’s arrival next week.
Please consider donating and spreading the word about Danielle’s journey with Baby. A funeral service will be held with Baby’s body after she has been preserved, and we welcome all who have loved or been loved by her to join.
We will continue to update this page with the lasted news from their journey and any funeral arrangements.
