Support Danielle and Chris on Eaton Fire recovery

Hi friends,

My name is Jessie, I'm a Los Angeles mom, and I'm raising money to assist my dear friends Danielle Gharst and Chris Cahill as they work to recover from the devastating Eaton fire that destroyed their beloved neighborhood Altadena, their children's schools, and greatly damaged their home.

Danielle and Chris are kind, loyal, hard-working friends who never ask for help. Even in crisis, their thoughts have been with their neighbors who have lost everything and they very much consider themselves the lucky ones - their house is still standing.

But while their house is standing, it is no longer in livable condition. During the fire, windows and doors melted and blasted open, leaving the interior heavily smoke damaged and covered in soot. Chris was able to get back into the house and now they've been faced with the daunting realization that most of what they own - clothing, furniture, toys - will have to be replaced. The interior of the house will have to be completely remediated, which will at the very minimum, take many months. While they have insurance, they are not sure what it will cover and when they will have access to the money. In short, they no longer have a place to live.

Meanwhile, their daughter Clara, 4, lost her elementary school (Odyssey South). They're going to need to figure out a new form of childcare for both kids, which will incur additional costs.

While they recognize their good fortune, the practical concerns of displacement and their damaged home have come into stark focus, and now this sweet, generous family needs our help.

They brought this house down to the studs and poured their lifeblood and savings into it. They had only recently moved in after a year of hard work.)
