Support Daniela & Gabby’s Evening Length Show

To our lovely community,

As some of you may know we have been working towards a full evening length presentation of our work, The Body of Mangoes (Deliver Us to Evil). This piece was first conceived in early 2023. We have been working tirelessly to have it presented at a larger scale and are asking you, our wonderful community, for support.

The Body of Mangoes (Deliver Us to Evil) investigates the influence of colonization on Mexican and Filipino cultures through contemporary dance. As both children of immigrants, this piece explores how our cultures shape our artistry in relation to our American dance training. Alongside contemporary dance our performance vocabulary explores prayer, rituals, pedestrian movement, vocalizing, eating, and a unique sound score.

We are asking for support to go towards artist fees, production, lighting design, sound design, administrative work, photography, and videography. With the increasing insecurity of funding for the arts we want to do our best to not only support ourselves, but our collaborators who are helping us create this work.

For those of you who may not know us as well, Hi! We are Daniela Garcia-Arce (she/her) and Gabby Gubitosi (he/him). We are New York City based dance artists and educators whose work investigates the brown queer experience. We have been collaborating professionally since 2022. We have presented our piece The Body of Mangoes (Deliver us to Evil) at Waxworks at Triskelion Arts in 2023, Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church in 2024, and most recently at Parkside Lounge for WetSpot NYC. In December of 2024 we premiered our newest work, Dreams and Decay, for THAT SHOW at Index. We are also both Teaching Artists for New York City Ballet’s education department, working with New York City public school students teaching creative movement and ballet curriculums through a diverse and accessible lens.
