Support Daniel Whaley's Cancer Battle

Hello everyone,

My name is Victoria, and I'm reaching out for help during a very difficult time for my family. My dad, Daniel Whaley, a strong and dedicated man who has always put his family first, is now facing a challenging and lengthy battle against cancer.

He is a disabled veteran due to injuries sustained during his time serving in the US Army. He has recently been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, for the second time. The doctor that he has been seeing has recommended him for surgery to remove the cancer, and he is being sent to Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, for the procedure.

This will not be a one-time trip. My parents will have to travel back and forth to Duke several times a year over the next five years to continue his treatment. The VA is covering the medical costs, but the financial strain of travel, food, and lodging is overwhelming. My mom, Mary, does not work as she takes care of my dad and my younger sister full-time.

About My Dad

My dad proudly served our country in the United States Army, dedicating his strength and courage to protect and support others. Now, he needs our support. He is a loving father to me, my brother, and our younger sister, and a wonderful grandfather to his three grandchildren — my daughter, and my brother’s son and daughter.

Why We Need Your Help

The journey between our home and Duke Hospital is a three-hour drive, one way. The ongoing costs of gas, food, and lodging during these trips are more than our family can afford.
