Support Daniel Rodriguez's Kidney Transplant Journey

Hello everyone,
My name is Alice Rodriguez, and I am reaching out on behalf of my beloved husband, Daniel Rodriguez. Daniel is a fighter who has always embraced life to the fullest, despite battling polycystic kidney disease for most of his life. His spirit is unbreakable, and his love for life and family is unwavering.
Four years ago, in September 2020, Daniel faced a severe setback when a urinary tract infection caused him immense pain. He was hospitalized at Seymour Hospital for 10 days. Although he came home briefly, his condition worsened, and he was readmitted to United Regional Hospital with a high fever and blood in his urine. He spent another 14 days in the hospital, battling the infection, before being discharged to receive outpatient antibiotic infusions.
Unfortunately, Daniel's condition deteriorated, and he was back in the hospital for the third time by October 2020. This time, he was experiencing unbearable pain, fever, and continued bleeding. The situation became critical as doctors discovered that cysts on his kidneys were rupturing and causing severe internal bleeding. At this point, he was urgently transferred to Dallas Methodist Liver and Kidney Institute.
Doctors there delivered devastating news: both of Daniel’s kidneys were failing, and he was bleeding internally. In a life-or-death situation, we were forced to make an unimaginable decision. To save his life, Daniel’s kidneys had to be removed. On October 31, 2020, both kidneys were surgically removed. It was during this surgery that doctors discovered his right kidney had cancer.
Since then, Daniel has been on dialysis, which he started on November 9, 2020. He was also placed on the kidney transplant list, with an estimated wait time of 5 to 6 years due to his rare blood type. Now, after years of waiting, we are finally nearing the time for his much-needed transplant.
While we are incredibly grateful and hopeful for this next chapter, we are facing significant financial challenges. The costs of travel, medical appointments, gas, and hotel stays have depleted our savings. After the transplant, we will need to stay near the hospital for three months, away from our family, so that Daniel can receive the necessary post-operative care. During this critical period, I will be unable to work, as I need to be by his side.
We are humbly asking for your support to help us raise $25,000 to cover these expenses. Any amount you can contribute, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Daniel’s journey toward recovery. If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask for your prayers and for you to share our story with others. Your generosity, prayers, and support mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can provide.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless each and every one of you.
With gratitude,
Alice Rodriguez and Family
