Support Daniel Lopez After Tragic Loss
Donation protected
My son, Daniel Lopez, needs your help. On June 25, 2023, his fiancée Shannon had an accident in which her neck was fractured and she had spinal cord injuries, leaving her paraplegic with limited use of her arms. Sadly, Shannon passed away on November 5, 2024. From the time of her accident, Daniel made caring for Shannon his number one priority, even at the expense of working. Shannon did not have health insurance at the time of the accident, although she did get some insurance and grant money to pay for care, but even with that, she and Daniel drained their savings to pay for her medical bills, purchase a vehicle she could be transported in, and pay everyday living expenses. Daniel even took a sizable loan from his 401k that will take him 5 years to pay back. Shannon and Daniel were living in Austin (Daniel still lives there for the time being) when the accident occurred, and she was to resume rehab at Texas Neuro Rehab once she recovered from surgery on her arms on September 25th, but she never recovered enough to start.
As you know, Austin is an expensive place to live, and Daniel will have to move somewhere more affordable. Staying in Austin isn’t really an option any longer. Shannon had applied for disability, but it was not approved before she passed, and it is unlikely that any payment is forthcoming. Daniel hasn’t worked since the end of September and has already used up his vacation time, as well as vacation time donated by his coworkers. He has pressing bills that must be paid before the end of the month. Daniel has been in survival mode since Shannon’s accident and could use all of our help. I am so proud of my son and the way he cared for Shannon, and it hurts me to see him in these tough financial circumstances while he is grieving his loss. Please donate if you can, and share this GoFundMe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
