Support Daniel Garcia's Journey to Adjust to Blindness
Donation protected
My daddy has suddenly and almost completely lost his sight. Close to only a wall of grey, no color, no shadows, no detection of light or movement from now both eyes.
This is only the beginning of a long journey as there are several adjustments to be made. While now, not being the primary provider for his family through means of work the work he loves; after having assumed parental responsibility for my nephew, their 8-year-old grandson within the previous year; losing his ability to spend his spare time and future retirement on his passion of cars; Having to rely on another individual for all his primary needs until he can begin to learn to live without the sight he has known for 58 years; The thoughts of not seeing another smile on his children’s or grandchildren’s faces; The thought of not being able to see videos of the family near and far, especially with technology at our fingertips; The thought of just losing something that many might not give a second thought to and, subsequently, take for granted; Because of this immediate need to help him be comfortable in his own home, cover many costly medical bills and maintain some sort of normalcy through this transition, I am reaching out to the universe through humanity via GoFundMe to help my dad with the support he needs. I want him to know he is not alone this second time around, when it is more impactful to his life. While I wish I could do it all, I am reaching out to the hearts of many to help us, nothing is too small, even if it is only a share or prayer.
In closing, I appreciate your time to read our story, and I thank God every day that we still have him to at least listen to our voices, “hear” our smiles and “feel” our happiness. God bless everyone.
