I'm raising funds for my husband, Daniel, after his cancer diagnosis turned our lives upside down. In July, Daniel was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer of the distal third. It has not metastasized, but he needs chemotherapy starting Monday and surgery that will require us to travel out of town for treatment.

Daniel also has a feeding tube, which means he needs a special diet on top of everything else we are managing. Before we were able to get insurance in place, we burned through our savings paying for the tests and scans he needed. Now we are trying to keep up with medical bills from that time, prepare for travel and accommodations when he has surgery, keep our insurance going, and cover our household expenses.

At home, we are caring for our two children and my Grandma while also adjusting to the reality that Daniel cannot work his construction company during treatment. I am watching every dollar more closely and trying to find sales for my company so we can keep things going, but it is a lot to carry all at once.
