Support Dani DiFranco's Breast Cancer Research

Donation protected
When Danielle DiFranco was a young teenager, she declared, “I want to cure cancer!” Her desire wasn’t just because people she loved suffered or died from cancer, but also because she found a love for science. For those who don’t know Dani, she is a Ph.D. candidate in the Schroeder lab at the University of Arizona. Her research primarily studies breast cancer. Specifically, they investigate the role of a protein called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in cancer metastasis and immune system evasion. They have developed a therapy that targets this protein and hope to eventually get this therapeutic into clinical trials. Additionally, her project looks at the shared mechanisms between wound healing and cancer progression to help us better understand how cancer cells get dysregulated to cause disease.

In the past, the lab has had great success in acquiring national grants. However, in the past couple of years, they have struggled to get funding despite their promising therapeutic. With the recent changes to the National Institute of Health priorities, it is now harder to get funding for scientific research. Currently the lab is running off of small internal grants to get by, so any size donation will help them to continue their work to improve breast cancer therapies! Thank you for considering donating to Dani’s research in the Schroeder lab.
If you prefer to donate directly to the lab or have questions, contact the organizer or Danielle via IM.
