Hi! My Name is Dana Taylor, and I am fundraising to help produce my first album and senior project, Cicada Killer. This album is an indie-rock summation of my time as an Entertainment and Arts Management student at Drexel University and a reflection on relationships, love, career, and growing up.
By supporting this project, you will help fund young musicians and have VIP access to the behind-the-scenes process of recording, creating artwork, developing merchandise, and organizing an album-release show through my Instagram.
Why Bugs?
The album title a reference to my song, “i double shot the cicada killer”, but it’s also the personification of myself as a cicada (my favorite bug), and its predator, the Cicada Killer Wasp. This wasp represents all of the things that have held me back, influenced, or affected me in the past four years. There is no cicada killer without a cicada, and in turn, the cicada is controlled by or is in fear of its predator.
This project and these two bugs are important to me because it's the motivating light to continue to be creative and to be a musician. University is busy and comes with its own set of challenges that makes being a musician difficult. My senior project is the promise to myself to not lose my love for writing music and performing with my friends.
Your support will:
- Create opportunities and compensate young musicians and recording engineers
- Produce quality and creative merch like tote bags, stickers, and CDs
- Produce an album-release concert in a Philadelphia venue
- Market the album and concert to audiences in the Philadelphia area
Donations of $50 or more will receive a CD copy of Cicada Killer and mystery sticker bundle.
Donations of $100 or more will receive a canvas tote bag, a CD copy of Cicada Killer, and mystery sticker bundle.
Cicada Killer as well as the album-release show will be in May!
Thank you so much for supporting this project.
