Hi, my name is Dana Bissontz. I am 52 years old and I live in Pittsburgh, PA with my beautiful 15 year old daughter Camryn. I've been a proud single mom working as a registered nurse for almost 25 years and more recently as a life care planner. It's always been just Cam and me, getting through everything together. Now we have a huge battle to get through, as I was just diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in my left breast via mammogram and ultrasound, and confirmed with a biopsy. A second suspicious site, also in my left breast is to be biopsied on June 9th. It feels so surreal even writing this now. This can't be happening to me!
I need to travel to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Chicago for the first and most important part of my cancer treatment. This needs to happen quickly and I may be flying out there as soon as June 15th. I have insurance which is a blessing; however, I am already starting to incur a mound of medical bills just with the diagnosis and initiation of a strict diet plan. I know the costs will continue to mount despite my insurance. Regardless of my treatment options, I still have to be a mom to my daughter and I still have to pay bills. But I need help in order to afford all my treatment and to get to the Cancer Treatment Center in order to get started.
I have had wonderful emotional support from family & friends but my biggest fear is not being able to be here to watch my daughter grow up and get married. I also have great nephews and their mom and dad who I am very close with and I need to be there for them and see my little turdballs grow up.
My family and friends say I'm one of the strongest people they know, but right now I've never felt weaker. I feel selfish even making this request, but I truly believe in my heart that there are angels on earth and anyone who may make any type of donation....you are my angels. I vow that if there are any monies left over after my treatment, I will pay it forward and donate to charity. I thank you with all that I have inside!
