Dana here, a small hometown polished piddler. “Hometown handygirl, sorta speak.”

Mom of 1, Gavin Thomas, an amazing daughter-in-love, and 2 beautiful grandbabies: Sophia Kate, 4, and Colsen Brady, 8 months, and many heartstrings along life’s way.

This is something I never imagined in my life I would have to or even need to do. On July 29th, I went in for what would be a normal complete total hysterectomy. Things didn’t go quite as I had planned. Four days later, I was rushed back into surgery for an abscess, which also turned into appendicitis. Since the 29th, I haven’t had one good day. Fever, pains, infections, and the unknown have brought me to Jackson, where I’m currently still hospitalized at Saint Dominic. Everything seems to finally be improving. Only God!

With all this being said, my job is manual physical labor and my time off has been extended more than I had planned. Many have asked what they could do for me or how they could help. I have never been one to ask anyone for anything. I’m a giver, not a taker. I make stuff happen. I’m always in survival mode. I’ve never fallen where I haven’t stood right back up, and I will again. But this time, it’s gonna take some time. My health is important. I have grandbabies. I have to give myself rest and turn off Wonder Woman mode for a bit, unfortunately. But life doesn’t stop. So for a couple of months, I’m gonna be in a spot I’ve never allowed myself to get in or be. It wasn’t by choice. Sometimes God knows we need rest, and maybe this is the only way He knew I would slow down. God has truly had His hand on me through this. And even through the storms, I am still blessed.
