Support Dan Huffman's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
I’m asking for any financial help for a friend who is suffering unimaginable stress and financial hardship. She isn’t a person who would ever ask for help, and I feel in my heart that this is the right thing to do for her and her family. If you can, please read their story and share this to your page, and most of all, find it in your heart to donate even the smallest amount; it will add up. They are great people, and if we could please rally around this family in need, they would appreciate it more than you could ever know.
On March 29, 2025, my friend Tracy Huffman’s husband, Dan Huffman, had an accident resulting in a broken neck, brain bleed, aspiration pneumonia in both lungs, a TBI, and many cuts, bumps, and bruises. He spent the first two weeks following the accident in the intensive care unit in a coma on a ventilator, along with a feeding tube and more IVs than a person should need to have. His wife, Tracy, and their children, Makayla, Bella, and Liam stayed by his side day and night, sobbing and praying for a miracle. That happened; a few weeks later, he woke up and was able to be taken off the ventilator and was fighting to stay here with his family. He’s spent weeks being hospitalized, from the ICU to being moved to the rehabilitation floor to start his long road to recovery. He will continue to have several appointments every week with multiple doctors and specialists. He is having to travel to Polinski rehab for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy with hopes of reversing the damage that has been caused by the accident and now traumatic brain injury. He has a strong support system and a family that loves him very much; they are confident that he will get through this in time. Dan needs so much additional time and one-on-one care to heal. There isn’t a definite timeframe; every brain heals at its own pace. He will be in his neck brace for at least 2 more months to ensure his broken neck is completely healed.
Unfortunately, at this time, his wife, Tracy, is unable to work and had to take a leave of absence from her job in order to provide round-the-clock care for Dan, and due to stress-induced complications to her own medical condition, she is unable to work. She has exhausted her sick leave with her own serious medical condition that she’s been battling for several years at Mayo Clinic. Dan is unable to work at his new job that he recently acquired due to the accident, and because he was self-employed, he is not eligible for social security disability benefits for several more years. On top of that, they recently suffered unimaginable financial losses at work from an employee theft where hundreds of thousands of dollars were embezzled from them, which caused him to close his business and start over.
Dan will be off work for quite some time, and this will be a huge financial hardship for the family with no income and two school-aged children to take care of as well. There is never a good time for tragedies, but this family was finally starting to get their lives back together and another thing happened. One thing that I have to say is that they are so dedicated to each other, and I believe that strong love helped him escape the coma and return to his family. Please help if you can.
