Once again, we are asking for help for Dan Huffman and his family as they face another devastating diagnosis.

As a result of the accident in March that Dan is still trying to heal from, several x-rays and scans were done, which unfortunately and fortunately, uncovered a kidney mass that would have otherwise probably not been found. As it turns out, the tumor located in his kidney was suspicious for cancer. After meeting with a urologist in Duluth to discuss next steps to remove the mass, Tracy and Dan requested a second opinion at Mayo Clinic. After meeting with the specialist at Mayo Clinic and having more scans and biopsies done, it was discovered that there were actually two masses in the kidney, one mass in the lung, as well as a mediastinal thymoma mass, these are not metastatic, they are separate cancers. There will be several more appointments occurring at Mayo Clinic starting with a pet scan next week to investigate things further and to get his surgeries and ongoing treatments scheduled.

The need for Tracy's continued leave from work in order to care for Dan and to bring him to his many appointments (as he is still unable to drive), as well as taking care of the children and household has increased immensely. The family is already having to pay out-of-pocket to continue the health insurance through Tracy's employer, as well as pay for hotel stays for Dan's care, which is only going to become more and more expensive with traveling to and from Mayo Clinic, in addition to the day-to-day living expenses with both Dan and Tracy being out of work. The financial hardships will continue to mount in the months to come and Tracy needs to be there with Dan and their family.
