Support Dan Higgins' Fight Against Cancer

Friends and Family of the Higgins: Four years ago, Dan's original colon cancer diagnosis from 2013 turned to stage four. He successfully did chemo every three weeks until last fall when the protocol quit working.

For the last few months, Dan’s advancing cancer required trip after trip to the ER in Sun Valley. In early December he was transported to Boise as his bowels and current colostomy said, “I am done.” Dan underwent a bypass of the affected area and scar tissue and has a new ileostomy. After weeks in the hospital, he has finally been released under the care of home health. Dan will need to stay in Boise for the next two months where the medical care is much more advanced than Sun Valley. He will be receiving chemo for the next 8 weeks and then have a PET scan to evaluate next steps.

Although Shelly and Dan have been lucky to have a local friend that has been housing and helping since Dan has been released, due to the duration they now need to stay in Boise, we are looking at re-locating them to a rental in Boise. This will allow their kids and family to visit and help as needed.
