Support Dan Dulik’s Cancer Battle

Dear Friends, Family, St. Margaret Mary members, All Saints Catholic Academy families, Bradley Braves, Chicagoans, Cubs Fans, Iowa Hawkeyes and beyond…Dan Dulik needs your support!

Dan has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Angiosarcoma, which is a rare and aggressive cancer. He's been fighting this demon for seven months and it’s been a whirlwind of a journey.

On September 15, Dan passed out at a volleyball game (when he was working as the part-time Athletic Director at All Saints Catholic Academy in Naperville) and was then hospitalized for over a week. That night, we learned there was a tumor in his liver – but that wasn’t even the biggest battle at the time. He was bleeding internally and severely anemic. After an embolization procedure to stop the bleeding, many restless nights in the hospital and a horrible Bears loss, he was finally able to come home. A week later on October 4th, Dan was back in the hospital due to continued internal bleeding. He continued to face many obstacles, another embolization procedure, long days in the hospital, the scary angiosarcoma diagnosis and an eventual transfer to UIC Hospital. Dan got his first does of chemo on October 17 and was finally able to go home that night. He continued to receive chemo every 21 days, trying to regain some energy and steering clear of any infections.

Over the last 6 months things have been going okay, but at the end of February he reached the maximum doses of chemo, leaving us with immunotherapy as the next option. Unfortunately the tumor is still out of control, causing internal bleeding that we’re trying to stop. On March 17th, Dan was put back in the hospital because of internal bleeding and a hemoglobin that dropped to the lowest it’s ever been. With many different procedures and around 15 units of blood, the doctors are doing everything to keep him stable enough to apply radiation and potentially a different type of chemo. We’re hoping to get him out before his birthday on April 7th!

To know Dan is to love him. Dan is the kindest, funniest, most loving human we know - and he hasn’t had an easy year to say the least. While it hasn’t been simple, he’s had a positive attitude and has continued to find the joy through it all. While unemployed for the past year as a Marketing Executive, he was given the opportunity to follow his passion for youth sports by working as the part-time Athletic Director at All Saints Catholic Academy. He's always been known as “Coach Dan” through coaching many of his kids' sports. We want nothing more than to get Dan back into what he loves.

Dan and Mary Dulik have both served as active volunteers throughout our community. For many years, they have cared for others and generously give their time and money. At this scary juncture, they need help. While it’s only been a month and they carry insurance, the hospital bills and other expenses are increasing. They could use support: financial and prayers. A lot of people count on Dan in so many ways. He’s a super supportive father, husband, son, uncle, brother, friend and coach. Now it's time to show him our love and support. (If you would prefer to contribute outside of GoFundMe, you can reach out to the family directly.)

They sincerely appreciate everyone rallying behind them. We’re in this together!
