My brother Dan Becker has been fighting cancer for 8-1/2 yrs. I thinks he’s long accepted the fact that he won’t survive this monster. What none of us knew, was that there would be so many devastating losses along the way. In February he had to have cancerous bone tissue removed from his left femur, a plate to stabilize the leg, followed by a slow recovery. So many complicated & incremental setbacks have taken place since then……

The latest blow has been a fall that led to a spiral fracture in the leg that was repaired in February. While he was kicking himself for not being careful enough, he learned that the fall really was the result of weakness in his legs, caused by a tumor pressing on the spinal column. Targeted radiation has not led to any improvement.

The upshot is that he will need to be confined to a wheelchair. He & Keri are devastated by this cruel turn of events. Moreover, they are overwhelmed with the need to quickly adapt their house & vehicles for wheelchair access. A ramp has already been built. A roll-in shower is next. A wheelchair accessible van has been located. Access to a motorized wheelchair is in the works.

Until now, Dan has been opposed to any plea for help. He has long been able to keep up a good attitude & demeanor but this has really become too much for anyone to cope with. Let’s all pull together to help take some of the financial worries off his plate. Please help in any way you can.
