Our son, Damien Wong, was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, a rare condition that has affected his life in many ways. He was born blind, with a cleft lip and palate, a deformed nose, and webbed fingers. From the beautiful moment he arrived, we, Anastasia and Matthew Wong, knew he would need extensive medical care. Doctors have told us Damien will require about 18 surgeries throughout his life to address these challenges and give him the best chance at a healthy future.
Since I was pregnant with Damien, our family has had to travel to Los Angeles for specialized care. This May, we will make our fifth trip back and forth, as he prepares for his third surgery—repairing his cleft palate on May 6. Each journey brings new hope, but also new expenses. We will be staying in Los Angeles for seven weeks, and the costs for travel, medical bills, accommodations, and daily living add up quickly.
We are reaching out for your support to help us through this challenging time. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference for Damien and our family. We are most grateful for your love and prayers for our baby boy, Damien. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your help as we continue this journey together.
