Support Dalis Ramos's Fight for Life and Recovery

My name is Andrea Torres, and I’m the daughter of Dalis Ramos.

In the United States, 1 in 4 women experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime. Tragically, my mother has become one of those statistics.

On May 25th, 2025, my mom, Dalis Ramos, experienced the unimaginable. She was brutally beaten in an act of domestic violence and left with devastating injuries that nearly took her life.

Due to privacy reasons, we withheld the real reason for her hospitalization until now.

Since that night, she has been fighting for survival in the hospital. Her injuries include:

• Severe traumatic brain injury

• Multiple skull fractures

• Bleeding in her brain (intracranial hemorrhages)

• Fractures around her eyes and sinuses

• Cerebral vasospasm (dangerous blood vessel spasms in the brain)

• Severe brain swelling and fluid buildup (hydrocephalus)

• Sepsis and pneumonia during her hospital stay

• Difficulty swallowing and breathing, requiring a ventilator

On June 2nd, my mom became unresponsive. The blunt force trauma from the attack caused her to suffer a stroke, which nearly took her life. She was placed on a ventilator to help her breathe and remains under critical care.

My mom has no medical insurance. Her hospital bills have already reached over $2 million, and the costs continue to grow each day.

Dalis is only 46 years old. Before this tragedy, she was the life of the party, the outgoing Puerto Rican woman everyone loved — always laughing, dancing, and lighting up any room she entered. She’s the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone else in need.

Now, we’ve been told that she may never be the same again. Doctors have warned us that she might be permanently disabled, with lasting effects on her memory, ability to speak, mobility, and her capacity to care for herself. The thought of her losing the joyful, vibrant spirit that defines her is devastating.

Dalis has survived unimaginable violence and is still fighting for her life every single day. She has a long road ahead, with more surgeries, rehabilitation, therapy, and daily medical care. Our family is trying our best, but we cannot manage this alone.

We are asking for your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Dalis’s medical bills, rehabilitation, and helping her have the best possible chance at recovery and quality of life. Even if you can’t give financially, sharing this page would mean so much to us.

Mi nombre es Andrea Torres y soy la hija de Dalis Ramos. 

 En Estados Unidos, 1 de cada 4 mujeres sufre violencia física severa por parte de una pareja íntima a lo largo de su vida. Trágicamente, mi madre se ha convertido en una de esas estadísticas. 

 

El 25 de mayo de 2025, mi mamá, Dalis Ramos, vivió lo inimaginable. Fue brutalmente golpeada en un acto de violencia doméstica y quedó con lesiones devastadoras que casi le arrebataron la vida. 

 

Por razones de privacidad, hasta ahora habíamos reservado el verdadero motivo de su hospitalización. 

 Desde esa noche, ella ha estado luchando por sobrevivir en el hospital. Sus lesiones incluyen: 

• Traumatismo craneoencefálico severo 

• Múltiples fracturas de cráneo 

• Sangrado en el cerebro (hemorragias intracraneales)

 • Fracturas alrededor de los ojos y los senos paranasales 

• Vasoespasmo cerebral (espasmos peligrosos de los vasos sanguíneos en el cerebro) 

• Hinchazón cerebral severa y acumulación de líquido (hidrocefalia) 

• Sepsis y neumonía durante su estancia hospitalaria 

• Dificultad para tragar y respirar, lo que requirió el uso de un ventilador 

 El 2 de junio, mi mamá quedó inconsciente. El traumatismo por el golpe le provocó un derrame cerebral que casi le costó la vida. Fue conectada a un respirador para poder respirar y sigue bajo cuidados críticos. 

 Mi mamá no tiene seguro médico. Sus facturas hospitalarias ya han superado los $2 millones de dólares, y los costos siguen aumentando cada día. 

 Dalis tiene solo 46 años. Antes de esta tragedia, era el alma de la fiesta, una mujer puertorriqueña extrovertida a quien todos querían: siempre riendo, bailando y llenando de luz cualquier lugar al que entraba. Es el tipo de persona que dejaría todo para ayudar a alguien que lo necesitara. Ahora nos han dicho que quizás nunca vuelva a ser la misma. 

Los médicos nos han advertido que podría quedar con una discapacidad permanente, con secuelas en su memoria, su capacidad para hablar, su movilidad y su habilidad para cuidarse sola. Pensar que podría perder el espíritu alegre y vibrante que la define es devastador. 

 Dalis ha sobrevivido a una violencia inimaginable y sigue luchando por su vida cada día. Le queda un largo camino por delante, con más cirugías, rehabilitación, terapias y cuidados médicos diarios.

 Nuestra familia está haciendo todo lo posible, pero no podemos con esto solos. Estamos pidiendo su ayuda. Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, irá directamente a cubrir las facturas médicas de Dalis, su rehabilitación y a darle la mejor oportunidad posible de recuperación y calidad de vida.
