Dalene and Rick Davis have always been the kind of people who put others first. Dalene, my dear friend and hairdresser, runs a beauty shop in an assisted living facility where she goes above and beyond for the residents—helping with their hair, running errands, and offering a caring hand whenever needed. She also cleans houses for people in our community, and both she and Rick have come to my home many times to help with cleaning and to care for my pets when I’ve been away. My animals absolutely adore them! During the pandemic, when Dalene’s shop was forced to close, she still made sure I was taken care of by coming to my house to shampoo my hair, especially since I have difficulty doing it myself. She continues to do this, sparing me from having to go out in the winter and risk falling on the ice. Dalene also grows a huge garden every year, sharing her harvest with friends and the residents at her shop. She is always ready to lend a hand, and Rick, despite his disability, does everything he can to help others as well.

Last week, tragedy struck when Dalene slipped on the ice and suffered a broken hip and fractured pelvic bone. She was sent to Boise for surgery and now faces at least three months without being able to work. Rick, who is completely disabled and unable to work, receives only a small disability payment from Social Security, making Dalene their main source of income. To make matters worse, when Dalene returned home from the hospital on Christmas Eve, Rick was so exhausted from the stress and the long drive that he passed out and broke his leg. Now, both of them are unable to work or care for themselves as they usually do, and they are facing months without income to cover their mortgage, utilities, groceries, insurance, gasoline, medical expenses, and other necessities.

Dalene and Rick have always been there for others, and now they need our help. I am asking for your support to help them through this incredibly difficult time so they can focus on healing and, when they’re able, get back to doing what they do best—caring for others.
