Support Dale McGeorge's Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND—Dale McGeorge, age 77, was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer 6 years ago and underwent surgery to remove the tumor, resulting in the removal of his lymph nodes as well. Unfortunately, the surgery proved ineffective, and another cancerous tumor has grown in place. After several MRI, PET, and CAT scans, more cancerous tumors were located, specifically under his left knee, right shoulder, back, left thumb joint, and neck on the left side. The doctors have concluded that he would be admitted to do immunotherapy, a treatment that uses the immune system to eliminate cancer. If immunotherapy fails to eliminate cancer over the course of the next two years, he will be required to receive chemotherapy.

FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCE
Currently, the McGeorge family has two girls attending Brigham Young University–Hawaii on full-ride scholarships funded by the IWORK Program. Dale is retired and unable to work due to his age. His wife, Na, brings in a small income with her English tutoring services. Their other source of income is his monthly social security (~$1,000). They are to withhold at least $12,000 in their account as required by Thai immigration law for Dale's legal residence in Thailand. Other spending has been put toward the construction of their family home, which is currently put on hold.

MEDICAL EXPENSES
Dale is under the care of Thammasat Hospital, where he will receive immunotherapy. As reported in their expenses, the total cost of immunotherapy is $33,000, excluding required blood work, bi-annual PET and CAT scans, travel, hospital accommodation, anesthesia, nursing fees, and additional medical expenses.

Dale recently received his first treatment on June 27, 2024. Please see the attached document as proof of expense: Treatment 1 Receipt. Note that the listed currency in the document is in Thai Baht.

The next scheduled immunotherapy payment is in August 2024. However, he will still be required to receive his treatment on a monthly basis.

$33,000 of the funds will be used to cover immunotherapy. The additional $10,000 will cover medical fees such as blood work, accommodation, medication, nursing, travel, and PET and CAT scans.
