Dakota needs a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery repair an injury to her cranial cruciate ligament (essentially the dog ACL). She has been referred to a local Orthopedic Veterinarian for consult and surgery with the estimated cost of $4,100. Our goal is $5,000 to cover cost of surgery, medications, and post op care. Thank you!
More information below on her and her injury.

WHO
Dakota is my best friend, she has been there through classes, pandemics, and crazy life happenings. After sustaining my brain injury this dog was with me every step of the way, from relearning to walk, regaining use my left arm and hand, and endless hours of cognitive therapy.
She is a twice forced surrendered rescue who came home to me and my mom in May 2015, and has been accepted, loved, and spoiled since. She is a silly, sassy, loving, fiercely protective and loyal dog. She loves to go on walks, car rides to Chick-Fil-A, sunning outside, and snuggling/sleeping near her people. She is a patchwork dog with Labrador Retriever and Border Collie most prevalent.

WHY
Her injury is causing major inflammation and pain affecting her day to day life. She is being monitored by our veterinarian and receiving pain/inflammatory medication until her surgery. We have already spent about $1,400 on appointments, medications, rounds of bloodwork, sedated X Rays, and laser light therapy - she’s worth every penny and more to us.

CAUSE/INJURY
We believe she sustained the original injury when she was under 15 months old and irritates/reinjured it in August of 2025, and again in late 2025/early 2026.

***She was abused and was forces surrendered twice under 15 months old with evidence of healed fractures to her nose and tail.

She was treated starting in August with medications and laser light therapy that greatly improved her condition and mobility. In late December/early January she went outside walking normally and returned limping/favoring it, then a few days later started refusing to weight bear. We went back to the vet for anti- inflammatory medication and sedated X Rays, and left with a surgery referral.
