In April 2023, my best friend, Dakota was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. From that moment on, her life became a series of hospital visits, intense chemotherapy treatments, and major surgeries, including a distal femur replacement and knee replacement. Through it all, she showed incredible strength and determination.
After months of fighting, she finally reached remission. Unfortunately, that remission lasted less than a year.
Shortly after welcoming her miracle beautiful baby boy into the world—and just as she was beginning her first nursing job—the cancer returned. After careful discussion with her doctors and family, she was faced with an impossible decision: the only remaining option to save her life was a right leg amputation.
On December 12, 2025, Dakota underwent the amputation. Following the surgery, she experienced complications that required another operation due to a failed nerve repair. She is now learning to navigate life in a completely new way—physically, emotionally, and financially— while also recovering from multiple surgeries, being a new mom, and continuing her fight against cancer. Also, home renovations to make everything handicap accessible for Dakota needs.
This fundraiser is to help ease the financial burden on Dakota and her family as they navigate medical bills, recovery costs, prosthetic needs, time away from work, and the everyday expenses that don’t stop during a medical crisis.
Any donation, share, or kind message means more than words can express. Thank you for supporting Dakota as she continues to fight, heal, and rebuild her life for herself and her son
