Hi Friends and Family, We are raising funds to support the training of a rescue dog named Charlie, who we hope will become a service dog specializing in seizure alerts for our god daughter
Dakotah. Did you know that very few organizations train and provide seizure response or seizure alert service dogs for people with epilepsy? Unfortunately, resources are limited, waitlists are long, and qualifying can be challenging. As a result, many individuals with epilepsy choose to find and train service dogs on their own, which can be quite costly.
Dakotah has been living with epilepsy since 2016. Her first seizure occurred during a track meet in her senior year of high school. Since then, she has been navigating the challenges associated with this condition. Rather than allowing her diagnosis to hold her back, Dakotah pursued her dream of attending Humboldt State University. Although she faced difficulties in school due to her condition, she excelled in her studies and ultimately earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resources Engineering. After graduation, she secured a job in her field and is diligently working to advance her career through additional studies and certifications.
Dakotah desires the independence that many of her peers enjoy. Her condition prevents her from being alone, as a seizure can occur unexpectedly. Charlie has the potential to alert her before a seizure and protect her during one, providing the security and safety that everyone deserves. Dakotah has chosen to rescue Charlie and has enlisted the support of a professional dog trainer. The funds we raise will go toward adoption fees, initial veterinary expenses, and the specialized training that Charlie needs. We are deeply grateful for any support you can provide, as every contribution brings us one step closer to empowerment. Thank you so much!
Much Love and a Happy Holiday Season to all of you,
Deanna and Olivia
