Back in April 2024, our lives changed forever.
Dakarai, a joyful, athletic 14-year-old, began experiencing pain in his arm. His mom took him to doctor after doctor, hoping for simple answers. But after weeks of testing, she received news no family is ever prepared to hear: Stage 4 aggressive bone cancer. It had already spread to both of his lungs.
He’s endured so much since then: the removal and replacement of his right humerus, grueling rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation. Still, last week, doctors gave his mom the words no parent should ever hear:
“There are no curative options left. It’s time to consider palliative care.”
But we’re not ready to give up. We can’t. He’s only 14.
Dakarai still dreams of playing football again. He still watches games, cracks jokes, and talks about what he wants to be when he grows up. He still smiles. He still lives.
How can we look into those bright eyes and accept “there’s nothing more”?
Right now, his parents are exploring early-phase clinical trials—no guarantees, but they offer a sliver of hope. And for his parents, hope is everything. They would rather fight with all they have than surrender to this disease. They don’t want to “buy time.”
They want a lifetime. We all want a cure. We want Dakarai.
Please continue to pray. Pray that his parents find the right trial, the right treatment, the right miracle. Pray for strength—for Dakarai, his mom, and all of those who love him endlessly.
To help support Dakarai's fight, any donation brings the family closer to the care, comfort, and treatments Dakarai desperately needs. All proceeds go directly to medical care, out-of-pocket costs, and to help give Dakarai the best quality of life possible.
Thank you—for standing with us. #DakaraiStrong
