This fundraiser is being organized by Stephanie Quade and Wendy Quade on behalf of Daisy’s mom, Rachel, as her daughter WaabiiOnidjanii (Daisy) fights through a critical medical crisis. In late December, Daisy was rushed by ambulance after becoming severely ill and not acting like herself. Doctors discovered she was suffering from a twisted colon (volvulus) that caused dangerous bowel obstruction, air buildup, and rapidly escalating, life-threatening complications. Since then, Daisy has endured multiple emergency procedures and surgeries, hospital transfers, heavy sedation, breathing support, feeding tubes, IV lines, and constant monitoring. She is currently connected to numerous machines, including a central line, and while stable at this moment, she has developed an infection and is receiving antibiotics. Daisy has multiple surgeries scheduled, with more anticipated in the future, followed by a long and difficult recovery, including a temporary ostomy. Daisy is autistic and has lived her life with epilepsy and chronic illness, making this trauma even harder on her body and nervous system. She is now being closely monitored for seizures and started on new medications as doctors work to stabilize her.
Through everything, WaabiiOnidjanii continues to show incredible strength. Her mom, Rachel, has not left her side. She is sleeping on a cot in Daisy’s hospital room, living there day and night—advocating, praying, and staying constantly alert to every change. While deeply grateful for the care team, Rachel carries the emotional weight of knowing how quickly things can shift. At the same time, real-life needs continue: medical expenses, travel between hospitals, food, laundry, missed work, bills, and the growing costs that come with extended hospital stays and repeated surgeries.
We are asking for help to support Daisy and her mom Rachel during this crisis. Your support will help ease the financial burden and allow Rachel to focus on Daisy’s recovery. Any contribution, no matter the size, means so much to their family. Thank you for standing with them in this difficult time.
