Urgent Update on Daisy-
Dear friends and family,
Today, we write to you with heavy hearts and a critical call to action regarding Sweet Daisy. You may recall the recent update from St. Jude’s after her 2nd brain surgery revealing that Daisy has been diagnosed with Medulloblastoma SHH-TP53-mycn amplification.
This is an incredibly challenging diagnosis that demands an all-out effort from everyone in her corner, and we urgently need your help.
In light of this situation, we are raising funds more urgently than ever. The reason for increasing our fundraising goal is because Daisy may soon be receiving alternative treatments in Houston that are not covered by insurance. Each treatment is approximately $17,000 and is not covered by insurance. As she undergoes radiation, her family is also educating themselves on these potential options.
The latest news has brought devastating clarity: Daisy currently has a 30% chance of survival.
The Farley family is doing everything they can think of with vitamins, diet, and additional supportive care to ensure her well-being.
Your financial support is crucial now more than ever.
This is a significant goal, and with Angela and Jason still working, we kindly ask you to pray and discern how you can help bridge the financial gap for our friends.
What is SHH-TP53-mycn Amplification?
Medulloblastoma is a type of brain cancer primarily affecting children. Here are key features of Daisy's specific tumor:
- SHH (Sonic Hedgehog): Involved in cell growth and development; mutations contribute to tumor formation.
- TP53: This gene protects cells from cancerous changes. Alterations can affect tumor behavior and response to treatment.
- mycn Amplification: Indicates an excess of the mycn gene in cancer cells, leading to accelerated growth and a more aggressive tumor.
While the five-year survival rate for medulloblastoma can be around 60% to 80%,
Daisy's particular tumor presents a troubling prognosis, with only a 30% chance of survival—and even less after one year.
This reality underscores the urgency for a movement of prayer, support, and action.
No family should have to endure this, but we are a community of believers who can uplift this family through our prayers and support.
