Hi, my name is Dai’Driana Willford. Im a graduate from Galesburg High School in Galesburg, Illinois. This fall, I’m excited to start my journey at Iowa State University studying Anthropology and I’m reaching out with an open heart. Your support could make all the difference in helping me get there.
For the past three years, I’ve competed in soccer, wrestling, band, and track. These activities have taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork especially this year when I qualified for the IHSA State Wrestling Tournament. Balancing multiple sports while pushing through tough matches, practices, and performances has built my confidence and shown me what determination can achieve. I’ve also been deeply involved in Upward Bound, a program that supports motivated students like me in preparing for college success. Through the Gale Scholars Program, I’ve gained valuable academic skills, leadership experience, and the encouragement to dream big.
Outside of school, I’ve volunteered at our local food pantry, helping families in need put food on the table. At our church, I serve on the board, where I contribute ideas and support community initiatives. These experiences have shaped who I am. I believe everyone deserves a chance to thrive, and I want to carry that passion into my studies in Anthropology at Iowa State exploring cultures, people, and stories while continuing to give back.
I’ve worked hard to earn my spot at Iowa State, but like many families, we’re facing real financial hurdles. Tuition, books, housing, and fees for an out-of-state student add up quickly, and even with scholarships, grants, and hard work, there’s still a $7,000 gap we need to bridge for my fall semester. In order to cover full tuition we’re looking up to 12,000 a year. Every donation big or small will go directly toward my tuition and college expenses so I can focus on my studies and making the most of this opportunity instead of worrying about how to afford it.
Your generosity won’t just help with numbers on a bill. I’ll carry the kindness you’ve shown me into everything I do at Iowa State and beyond, paying it forward to those who need it most.
From the bottom of my heart (and my proud family’s), thank you for reading my story and considering a donation. Please share this with your friends and family in Galesburg.
Any amount helps more than you know!
With gratitude, DaiDriana W. (and her family in Galesburg, IL)
