Hi, my name is Dahlia. On Sunday, November 10th, I was the victim of a hate crime. Four men approached me in downtown Minneapolis, hurled multiple anti-trans slurs, and beat me and my ex until we were knocked unconscious. They broke my nose and tooth, along with leaving bruises all over my body and worsening my chronic pain. I was hospitalized and subsequently blamed by the Minneapolis Police Department for screaming "LEAVE US ALONE," because apparently that was inciting violence.
In the days following, I have been unable to chew as I have a broken tooth, and I've been afraid to take public transport, which I rely on to get back and forth from school. On top of all this, I was recently homeless and am still getting back on my feet. I've already had some funds raised for me by Twin Cities Trans Mutual Aid, but I need more long-term fundraising to get me into stable housing and put the pieces of my life back together.
I appreciate all the help I can get -- if you want to help with rides, groceries, or furniture for my apartment that will help with my limited mobility, those would all also be much appreciated.
