Hi! My name’s Daevona McArthur.
I decided super last minute to compete in the Ori Tahiti Nui Competition in Tahiti, one of the biggest and most prestigious Tahitian dance competitions in the world and something I’ve dreamed about since I was a little girl. I never thought it would be possible until the opportunity came up unexpectedly. I still need help covering lodging, competition fees, costumes, and food, which can get really expensive.
I’ve been dancing for 14 years and competing for 12. Dancing has always been such an important part of my life it’s something that has shaped who I am. This opportunity came out of nowhere, and even though it’s a stretch, I really don’t want to miss it. Getting the chance to take what I’ve learned all the way to Tahiti feels surreal.
I’m a full-time student and work part-time, so I’m doing my best to make it all work. It’s definitely been a challenge to balance everything and make this happen, but I’m determined to go. Any amount or even just sharing this means a lot and helps me take one step closer to dancing on that stage in Tahiti and living out my dream.
Thank you so much for supporting me and helping make this lifelong dream a reality.
