My father, Dae Sung Lee, was admitted to the hospital nearly three weeks ago after developing a severe viral infection that caused significant inflammation in his tonsils and thyroid. This condition led to vocal cord paralysis, leaving him unable to safely swallow food or liquids without the risk of them entering his airway.

Because of this, he was unable to eat for two weeks and had to rely on IV fluids for hydration and basic support. While we remain hopeful for his recovery, he now requires a PEG procedure to ensure he receives the nutrition he needs during this critical time.

Once the procedure is completed, he will be discharged and continue his recovery at at a care facility under close medical supervision. He will be working with a laryngologist to monitor his vocal cord function and a speech therapist to help him relearn and strengthen his ability to swallow.

This has been an incredibly difficult and unexpected journey for our family. The emotional and financial strain has been overwhelming, and we are doing everything we can to support him through this process.
