Hi everyone! As some of you may know, my dad’s health has unfortunately been up in the air since last summer. He just finished radiation for prostate cancer. The past month(ish) he’s been back and forth to the walk in clinic since it’s impossible to get an appointment with your doctor these days…they kept telling him he has sciatica. He’s been in excruciating pain, has fell multiple times, can’t sleep, lost all feeling in his right leg, has had to miss work from being in pain. He’s finally went to the ER on Friday and they found that he has bulged discs and admitted him for surgery (in Seattle so we’ve all been going back and forth) since he was in really rough shape. He was able to finally get surgery yesterday that took almost 5 hours. In recovery he had excessive swelling in his legs, they found blood clots and dad needed a IVC filter placed that he will have for a month to prevent the clot from traveling to his heart and lungs. We are hoping he will be able to be home by the weekend.

Doctor said recovery will be anywhere from 6 weeks to a year. We of course started the ball on FMLA, but that all takes time to start paying out. My dad is the primary source of income since my mom is disabled and cannot work. My sisters on maternity leave and my family is moving, so we don’t have a ton of extra money to help right now.

It is very hard for us to ask for help. And we know times are tough for everyone. But we have reached the point that we need to ask.

Im hoping to raise enough to help with rent, utilities and groceries for a couple months. I know any help will take a tremendous amount of stress not only off of my parents, but my sister and I as well.
