Help Support My Dad After His Severe Four-Wheeler Accident

On November 16th, my dad was in a life-threatening four-wheeler accident. The ATV flipped on top of him and pinned him down while he was unconscious for 30–40 minutes. When he finally came to, he was yelling for help until a friend found him and called for an ambulance.

He was first taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where they discovered multiple injuries: several broken ribs, deep lacerations, a head laceration, a concussion, a broken collarbone, a collapsed lung, and air in his chest and spinal cord. He required a chest tube right away.

He was then transferred by ambulance to the trauma center at UK Hospital for more advanced care. There we learned the full extent of his injuries:
• 9 broken ribs on his left side
• Broken right thumb
• Broken left collarbone
• Broken left shoulder blade
• Broken nose
• Collapsed lung requiring a larger chest tube
• Concussion
• Extensive bruising and lacerations
• Ongoing neurological concerns

He has undergone countless tests — CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, labs, casting, and continuous monitoring — and we still don’t know the full road ahead for his recovery.

My three sisters and I have dropped everything to be at his side. We’ve left our kids at home and are traveling back and forth to the trauma unit, doing everything we can to support him through this terrifying time.

My dad lives on a fixed income from Social Security and only has Medicare, which leaves huge gaps in what insurance will actually cover — ambulance transport, specialist bills, hospital stays, and so much more. On top of that, his regular household bills don’t stop just because he’s in the hospital.

We are humbly asking for help. Anything you give will go directly toward his medical expenses, transportation costs, and the essential bills he’s facing while he fights to heal.

Thank you for your prayers, your support, and every act of kindness. We are trusting God and leaning on our community, and every bit of help means more than we can express.
