Please share! My father was in a horrible hunting accident on thanksgiving day 2024. His orange cap was obstructed causing another hunter to fire a 00 buckshot, hitting him in the face and passing behind both eyes. He was airlifted to UVA where he spent 25 days, 10 of which in ICU.
His right eyeball has been removed and still has absolutely no vision or light perception from the left eye. He also has slight damage to the brain from bone fragments. He is in good spirits considering the circumstances, but we know there is a long hard road ahead of us.
The trauma he is experiencing is very extreme. Please help give him some quality of life again, a bit of hope. Im making this in hopes to raise enough funds to secure a fully trained service dog to help him through this drastic change of learning to live completely blind. There are organizations that help with this, however the waiting list is very long. We would like to have one for him after he is accepted and returns from rehabilitation. Any advice for resources and coping strategies are greatly appreciated too. God bless
