Support Dad's Critical Heart Surgery Journey

On Monday, May 26th, my dad was rushed to the hospital for what we believed to be issues due to his blood sugar being high. Upon arriving at the hospital, we found out he had a critical cardiac arrhythmia. My dad’s heart was not beating; it was twitching. They had to shock his heart. During testing, we found out the ejection fraction, how much blood the heart pumps out with each beat, was only 10%. It should be over 65%. 10% is considered very severe heart failure. My dad is in need of a triple bypass heart surgery. One artery is 100% blocked with stress, one’s 90% blocked with stress, one’s 70% blocked with stress, and the last 60% blocked with no stress. They considered putting in two stents, but unfortunately, his heart is too weak, and there is a huge possibility it wouldn’t even work. Although the cardiologist said my dad needs a triple bypass, the cardiac surgeon team at Riverside Community Hospital said my dad is not an eligible candidate for this surgery due to his lifestyle and his diabetes not being under control. They have decided to put a bandaid on the situation, and he can be reevaluated in 2-3 months to see if he is eligible for triple bypass heart surgery. They gave him a LifeVest today, which is a defibrillator on the outside of your body. It will monitor his arrhythmia and weak heart, and if needed, it would shock him. This whole situation has been a roller coaster ride for our family. I have created this GoFundMe to help relieve a little of the financial stress for my mom, as my dad will need 24-hour care. We will be seeing Kaiser Monday morning and getting a second opinion for the triple bypass surgery he needs.
