Many of you know Dacia through her many years of service and love as the chef of Friends School in Boulder. We invite her cherished friends and family to share their appreciation, gratitude, and support for Dacia Horn during a very challenging time of transition for her. Dacia has shared her specific needs in the letter below. Dear Friend,

I hope you and your family are well. It’s been a while, and I’ve missed our connection.

I'm reaching out because I had to leave my job as a school chef two years ago due to issues beyond my control. As you might imagine, these past couple of years have been overwhelming and relatively heartbreaking for me. To make matters worse, I now find myself in a situation where I'm losing my home and facing numerous challenges that I could really use some help with:

1. **Housing:** I must move out by September 19th and have been searching for low-income senior rentals, but it’s complicated and time is not on my side. Please let me know if you know of any affordable, pet-friendly rentals or any place I could stay. This GoFundMe will allow for messages regarding housing information.

2. **Downsizing:** I’m preparing to move and want to find new homes for many of my belongings, including cooking and catering items. I’ll be hosting an estate sale on the weekend of September 7th and 8th (tentatively). I'd greatly appreciate it if you’re available to help with the sale. Please come by and bring a friend! 3. **Moving Expenses:** While I'm hoping to stay in the Boulder County area, I may have to move to a more affordable community, possibly even out of state. I have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to help pay for labor, trucks, and any storage I may need, considering this short timeline. A donation would be greatly appreciated in this challenging time. Thank you for considering it.

My work as a chef for so many children throughout the years and being immersed in a beautiful community of humans have meant more to me than you could know. I find it heartbreaking to face these realities ahead of me and even asking for help. I know that with the support of my community, I can transition to this new stage of my life with love and confidence.
