Hi, My name is Cassandra.

I am here to offer support, love and help to my stepfather Cyril as he goes through this challenging, scary and uncertain time.

On Friday, December 9th, 2022, Cyril was transported by ambulance after a tragic fall down a steep flight of stairs onto a concrete floor.

CTs and x-rays showed multiple skull fractures, a fracture to the right eye socket, a broken nose, a fractured upper arm, and a small bleed between the skull and the outside of his brain.

The fractured eye socket caused a significant bleed and pressure build-up to the back of the eye, resulting in an emergent and time-sensitive surgical procedure to relieve the pressure behind his eye and save his vision.

Once eye surgery was complete, hospital staff were pleased with how it went. Still, they realized Cyril needed to be transferred to a critical care unit due to his multiple bleeds and fractures, which were beyond their capabilities.

Cyril was then airlifted from Northumberland Hills hospital to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto for further testing and observation in the Neurosurgery Unit.

He will remain there until they feel he is safe enough to return home to finish his recovery.

We have not been given specifics on release dates as he is still undergoing testing while professionals are trying to manage his head trauma and other injuries.

At this time, we do not know if any of the trauma sustained from his fall will have long-lasting effects.

What we do know, is that donations here will help Cyril focus more on recovery and less on stressing over the financial burden of being unable to work.

This will also ensure coverage of travel expenses for medical appointments and access to any medications he might need.

Your support also helps his wife, Barb ( my mom ), have the ability to be there for him and adequately provide care for him during his recovery at home.

Cyril is a wonderful man who works tirelessly and would give the shirt off his back.

Cyril is the kind of man who is always there for anyone in need,

but he is also a prideful man who would never ask for help.

I am asking for help...

I am asking for help for a fantastic man who I can't imagine my life without.
