Cypher, a 4-year-old Australian Shepherd, was attacked by a pit bull or similar dog early this week when I was walking him in the neighborhood of Parkside at Westphalia community. The pit bull broke free from the dog owner when we passed by them and attacked Cypher. The attack took around 10 minutes, and both me and the dog owner tried our best to protect him from the pit bull, which was not successful. The pit bull managed to bite him in several places and caused severe damage to his left leg muscle and elbow dislocation. There is also a lot of damage on the neck, left back leg, stomach, and the bottom area as well.
We took him to the veterinary emergency and later on transferred to the specialty hospital. Based on the doctor’s examination, he was injured really bad, which required immediate surgery on the left back knee and other places. For the front leg, there is a 50% chance that he might be losing it as well. We would need your help to get the surgery and other treatments done as well. Thank you for your sympathy on him and helping us to bring him back to recovery!
