Support Cynthia's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

Dear GoFundMe Community, Family, and Friends,

We are here to share the ongoing cancer journey of our beloved Cynthia. She is now going on her 3rd year into her cancer journey, a long and unbearable battle that has taken a toll on every aspect of her life.
Cynthia was initially diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, and after enduring a year of painful treatments, we were overjoyed when she was declared cancer-free. However, months later, our hopes were shattered when she was re-diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, which unbeknownst to us, had begun to metastasize, travelling to her eyes, both the abdominal and bladder wall, and her ovaries. Recently, new lung tumors have been discovered, adding to the challenges she faces. Despite undergoing numerous treatment trials, doctors have now recommended one final treatment, an aggressive intravenous chemotherapy—in the hopes that it may slow the cancer’s progression and give her more time with us.

Like a thief in the night, Cancer has upended her life and stolen so much from her- her hair, her breast, her health, her energy, and any and every dollar she has left. Yet, she continues to fight with every ounce of strength she has. As she faces yet another year of treatment and mounting medical bills, along with her living expenses, the financial burden is becoming insurmountable. Despite her best efforts to keep up, she has exhausted her savings, taken out loans, and has sacrificed everything she has to fight this disease.

As she begins this aggressive form of chemo and the cancer continues to spread throughout her body, the simplest of tasks have become increasingly harder. The extreme fatigue has set in, she has developed mouth sores, she is unable to eat full meals, her sight is becoming increasingly impaired, and soon she will be forced to cut her hair off again because the chemo will strip that from her too. Her body cannot keep up and is begging for rest, but she has no choice but to keep working full-time, along with taking on side jobs to help keep up with the bills and the costs associated with her treatment and her living expenses.

Anyone who knows Cynthia can attest to the kindness and generosity that define her. She is a true warrior, confronting cancer with incredible strength, determination, and an unshakable faith in God. Despite the constant pain, exhausting treatments, and the emotional toll she endures daily, she refuses to give up. The battle may be taking everything from her, but her spirit remains unbroken, grounded in her love for God and the strength her faith provides. It’s truly unbearable to witness this disease’s impact on her, yet even in her toughest moments, her inner light shines brightly. She fights not only for herself, but also for the people she loves most—her husband, two sons, and two grandchildren.

As a family, we are doing everything in our power to support her, but we no longer can do it on our own. This is why we are turning to you, the GoFundMe community and to our family and friends, for support. This is our plea to you. If you are able, we humbly ask for any financial assistance, no matter how small, to help relieve some of the burden she carries. Your support will go directly toward her medical bills, treatments, medications, and living expenses, giving her the chance to focus on what matters most: her fight for life and her time with her loved ones.

We also ask for your thoughts and prayers, as every ounce of support makes a difference. Our hope is for Cynthia to experience some relief—whether that’s through financial assistance or just knowing that there are others out there standing with her in this fight. We love her deeply, and although she has been reluctant to accept any donations or financial support in her fight, we know, just as she does, that there is strength in numbers. She truly deserves at least one positive thing in this long and challenging journey with cancer.

Thank you for reading her story and for any help you can provide. Your support, no matter how big or small, means the world to us.

With love and gratitude,
The Medel Family
