Hi, my name is Leanndria and I made this GoFundMe for my sister Cyndal Halcro. Just this last month Cyndal was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This diagnosis has come as a shock as Cyndal is only 34 years old. Currently, Cyndal is doing the tests to find out if the cancer has spread and I will update this page depending on the outcome of those tests.
Cyndal is supported by her husband Bharat and together they have two beautiful daughters, Anastasia and Cristiana. Anastasia is 7 years old and Cristiana is 3 years old. I may be biased, but I think they are the sweetest and most adorable little girls in the entire world. Please see the following photo as proof:
Prior to this diagnosis Cyndal was working two jobs as a bus driver for special needs children and as a massage therapist. However, with chemo and treatment she will obviously be unable to work while she battles cancer. This has placed Cyndal's family in a difficult financial situation as they are dependent on having two incomes to cover their monthly expenses and bills.
Bharat is employed as an interior designer and works for commission. It is expected that in July or August that he will be receiving bonuses for large projects completing. This will help to cover the bills, but only for those months.
Recently, Cyndal and her family moved to Calgary and purchased a home. As we all know, the housing market is insane and to make this purchase they had to max out their lending capacity. Cyndal and Bharat are looking into receiving a loan to assist with bills, but are uncertain if they will be approved.
Through EI Cyndal will only receive $1200 per month in sickness benefits. However, her share of the bills for their vehicle and house is $3000 per month. Without her regular income, that leaves a deficit of $1800 per month.
Cyndal and Bharat do not live outside their means. They are proud people who would not ask for financial help unless the situation was dire.
It is expected that Cyndal will be doing chemo and treatment for 9 months. The money raised will be going toward ensuring Cyndal's family can pay their monthly bills. Cyndal needs to focus on her health and beating cancer, not on whether they can pay for their house and vehicle. The money will also be used toward any medical/drug expenses that are not covered.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, doctors have located an enlarged lymph node near Cyndal's heart/lungs. She has been referred to the thoracic oncology program for a biopsy and PET scan. We are hoping it is some sort of an infection and not that the cancer has metastasized. We will hopefully have some answers on June 19, 2025 and will update accordingly.
UPDATE!!: Turns out the radiologist was entirely incorrect and there is no enlarged lymph node near Cyndal's heart/lungs! This is fantastic news as it means that her cancer is Stage 3 (instead of 4) and is therefore curable. This is a huge relief obviously, but there is still a good 8 months ahead of treatment to beat this thing.
I ask you to please consider donating what you can to help this family make it through this very difficult period.
