Hi, my name is Cyeon Hamilton. Thank you for visiting my donation page. I was born and raised in Westmoreland, Jamaica where my parents, grandmother and other relatives currently call home. My hometown Savanna-la-mar in the Parish of Westmoreland was in the path of the eye of Hurricane Melissa which made landfall at Category 5- the strongest to ever hit the island.
My family was unfortunately not excluded from the devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa. Half of their home is gone and like everyone else, despite the struggles, they are thankful to be alive and safe, but are now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their home and going back to some form of normalcy.
It is hard to express the way I feel, but my heart is extremely heavy to see the disaster and destruction in Western Jamaica and for the place that I grew up and call home to be declared ground-zero. It is so surreal! Everything was gone in the blink of an eye, literally. All that’s left are the memories which I hold dear to my heart.
Jamaicans are very strong and resilient people and we will bounce back but right now I am asking for your help to provide essentials for my family and to help them rebuild their home. As we walk “Every mickle mek a muckle” so any contribution, big or small, will go towards helping my brother and I to get them back on their feet. Your generosity would mean the world to them.
Funds received will help to provide:
- Food and clean drinking water
- Medications
- Bedding and clothing
- A temporary fix for shelter
- Hygiene and Essential Care Items
- Building Materials and Roof Repairs
With all my heart, thank you and may God continue to bless you and your basket never be empty.
Cyeon Ruddock-Hamilton
