Hello Custer Community, Family, and Friends.
My name is Brian Hanis. I am a Social Studies teacher at Custer Junior/Senior High School. I was approached by a number of students last year about putting together a senior trip. After gauging interest and holding a meeting, it was determined that there were enough Seniors and Juniors interested in doing an education senior/junior trip to Washington D.C. (I opened it up to both Seniors and Juniors). The Custer School Board approved the trip on October 13. It was expressed that this trip, although approved by the school board, would be a self-funded trip.
At this time, we have 9 students who are working to earn funds to attend this 5 day trip to Washington D.C., which will include stops at the White House, multiple memorials, landmarks, and much more. This is all inclusive trip is being put on by World Strides, a leader in educational trips for students.
This is where we are coming to you, Family, Friends, Neighbors, and the Custer community. In my few years here in Custer, I have seen this community open up their hearts and their wallets to provide amazing experiences for Custer School District students. This includes traveling for clubs, sports, or various associations. I am asking again for assistance from the community.
This goal of this fundraiser is to reach $7,500. Whether the goal is met or not, all proceeds will be used to offset the cost of each student equally. If any additional students sign up before the trip in March, then they will share equally as well.
Again, we understand this community has been generous through the years and understand if no contributions are made. If you even can share this around, that would be appreciated. If there are any ideas of ways to raise funds, those would be welcomed as well. I can be reached at Custer Junior/Senior High School.
Thank you for your time in reading this and for any consideration you give.
