Support Curtis Ruiz (LAGCC) Post Stroke Aid
Donation protected
On Sunday, Dec 19, Curtis Ruiz (Whiston) suffered a serious stroke while working at LAGCC. Sadly, Curtis had a second stroke shortly thereafter, which has left him hospitalized, with significant deficits. At this time, he is still unable to communicate or care for himself. We do not yet know exactly what the longterm prognosis will be. We do know that Curtis needs our help with medical/COBRA premiums, and augmented care at a longterm facility. Augmented care will provide Curtis with physical therapy and the extra services necessary to keep his body as healthy as possible, while confined to a bed. A Care Manager has also been hired to assist Curtis’ mom, Diane, advocate for him through this complicated and confusing time. Curtis is Diane's only child, and although he had planned to take care of her, that has all changed and she will now care for him. While the Hale Ranch Foundation has been a great help with expenses incurred so far, there is a limit per employee. Our club is so special because of both the employees and the members, and Curtis has been a friendly face there since 2008. His laugh and engaging nature are sorely missed. All funds are greatly appreciated and will go to the Curtis Whiston Irrevocable Special Needs Trust, Diane Ruiz trustee. One of our members, attorney Francis La Poll, generously volunteered to create the trust at no charge.
