Support Curtis Akers' Family with Expenses

Curtis Akers was a commercial truck driver for PEI Ohio, Inc. since December of 2019. He tragically died a vehicle accident on Tuesday, April 27 in downtown Columbus, Ohio . With 30 years of trucking experience, Curtis worked for Strawser Equipment and Leasing and Power Trucking, before most recently driving a dump truck for DBM Materials, LLC.
In his time driving a dump truck, he touched the lives of numerous employees. His ornery demeanor led to countless memories shared by those he teased while giving truck tickets to them at jobsites throughout Central Ohio. He was known for bringing in loaves of homemade zucchini bread and sharing his love of cooking and baking with fellow drivers.
Employees regaled stories of how dependable Curtis was. In one account, Curtis' truck was broken down in the middle of the a job hauling dirt from a stock pile. Never one to shy away from getting the job done, Curtis managed to get another truck and make it back in line without missing his spot in the rotation. He was nearly always the first to work in the morning to get his day's assignment.
Everyone recognized his voice when he visited all the quarries. He was a truck "staple" in the area and known for his heart, loyalty and love of his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Valerie, two daughters Stephanie Harris (Omar) and Cassie Richardson (Josh), and five grandchildren: Jayvon, Carde, Cora, Kaiden, and Bowen. He is survived by his father and mother, Bud Junior Akers III and Cheryle, as well as his grandmother Tessie Akers.
His death was an unexpected tragedy, and we, members of his DBM/Igel family, ask for those who are able to pray for his loved ones and donate what you're able to assist this wonderful family in their time of need.
Rest in Peace, Curtis. You will always be part of the fabric of the trucking community here in Central Ohio.
